Beverly Black (nee Riggs) August 19, 1941 – February 2, 2019
It is with the saddest of hearts that the family of Bev announce that after a brief but courageous battle with cancer that on February 2, 2019 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, niece and friend left to join the quilting angels in the sky. Bev was predeceased by her parents, Paul & Tolly Riggs, her in-laws, Tom & Roberta Black, her brother-in-law Errol Black and her sister, Judy Willey. She leaves behind to mourn her husband and soul mate of 47 years Derek (Is that true Gramma?), her daughter Kelly, son Kevin, and extra special to her, granddaughter Caylee, with whom many an hour was spent with. Bev was born in Winnipeg and grew up on Valour Road. She met her husband Derek in 1970, and after a brief courtship and some spilled wine (is that true Gramma?) the two lovebirds knew they were meant to be. Daughter Kelly came along in 1972, and four years later brother Kevin completed the family. Whether it was cooking, baking, sewing, crotchet, knitting or dry walling, mom was amazing at everything she tackled. She was a long time member of both the quilting & embroidery guilds. The family wishes to thank the entire team at Cancer Care Manitoba & the staff at HSC GH4, special mention to Marisa who helped with so many phone calls, and to Robin who helped and guided the family during the fight. As per her wish’s cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place later. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in memory of Bev. See you later my sweet angel, keep the line open for my calls. Always & forever my princess. I love you.
