Surrounded by his loving family, Lionel passed away peacefully on April 2, 2019.
He is survived by loving wife Sherry, daughters Kim (Carson) and Tammi (Gord), granddaughters Caycie and Bryanna. Also, siblings Diane (Rick), Brian (Ellen), Eva (Orv) and Sandy (Terry) sister-in-law Rosemary (Marshall) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lionel was predeceased by his beloved grandson Brenden, his parents and brother Marshall.
Lionel was a welder for over 38 years. He lived a very active life being involved in Amateur Theatre, a DJ for approximately 40 years and sports. He was the athlete of the family, playing hockey, baseball and ringette. He was also involved in numerous organizations. Lionel was a huge fan of the Winnipeg Jets and the Blue Bombers.
Although challenged in the last few years of his life, he lived these years with courage and dignity and a very positive attitude. His memory will be honoured.
Lionel was a happy, fun loving man who will be remembered as a prankster who always had a funny story to tell. At family functions he always had his camera in his hands or in the faces of those present. He loved his family dearly and no words will adequately express how much he will be missed by his family, friends and community.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Lionel’s life will be held at the Norwood Legion Hall at 134 Marion Street, Winnipeg on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 1 – 3 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lionel’s memory may be made to Manitoba Cancer Care or Scleroderma Manitoba.
