Bernard William Ost, 70, passed away February 19, 2020.
Bernie grew up in the north end on Garlies St. Predeceased by his mother and father early in his life, he was very close to his grandparents, especially his grandfather.
He spent many wonderful summers with them at the cottage.
Bernie owned his own business, Ye Olde Hobby Mart, located at Garden City Shopping Center for many years. At Christmas, he would construct a beautiful moving train display for the kids.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing, having many fond memories of times with his friends at the Narrows. He had several hunting trophies displayed in his room. Another favourite hobby was rifle shooting at competitions. Early in his life, he was a collector of rare & antique guns & rifles. He always loved cooking, chinese being his favourite.
Lately, he found a new lease on life where he lived at the Deer Lodge Centre. He enjoyed the afternoon games of Jeopardy and Trivia and had a ready answer for each challenge question. He also enjoyed his sports, particularly the Jets and the Bomber games.
Bernie leaves to mourn his passing his good friends, Whom he’s known for most of his adult life and his new friends in the staff at Deer Lodge Centre. He received wonderful and compassionate care during his stay there.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at his request.
