Obituary of Jonathon Travis McKinnon

Jonathon Travis McKinnon (Jon) August 24, 1972 – October 11, 2020 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of Jon. He leaves to mourn his daughter Piper, son Campbell, and their mother Toby Peters all of Winnipeg; Jon’s mother Shelley McKinnon, sister Cindie (Bruce) Dunn and their boys, Porter, Blake and Lawson of Brandon; many aunts, uncles and cousins along with a lifetime of friends. He was predeceased by his Dad, Jack McKinnon in April of 2020. Jon was born and raised in Winnipeg and attended Sisler High School. Then he met and married Toby Peters. They have two children Piper and Campbell of whom Jon was incredibly proud. He shared a love of music with his daughter and was so very proud of her performances. Jon’s love of football extended beyond playing and he took great pride and joy in coaching his son and the Rods. He also loved fishing with his son. Jon worked at the Northwest Company for over twenty five years. Jon was always a kid at heart. Even though he had a dry sense of humour, he always lit up the room. Jon and his dog Irish, were inseparable companions to the end. He doted on her and she adored him. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.
