It is with so much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom and Granny. Memories of Marguerite will be forever cherished by her family Jerry, Caroline (Morgan), Warren (Kristina) and Earleen (Gord) and her 10 grandchildren Jordan, Ara, Melanie, Myles, Tyler, Curtis, Kennedy, Hugh, Jacob and Kendra. Family meant everything to mom. She loved being together as the big group or just a few, it didn’t matter.
Mom met Dad, the love of her life in 1957. They were married for 58 years until he passed away last year.
Mom loved kids, any and all kids. She worked for many years as teacher’s aid before retiring to enjoy time with her grandkids as they grew up. She treasured the times when the grandkids were young and they would come over for the afternoon, the day or for a sleepover. The more the merrier. Mom enjoyed watching TV sports with Dad, but it was the games of her grandkids that really got her excited. She loved to follow the kids in whatever they were doing, Mom and Dad never missed a chance to cheer them on. Mom was an honorary member of the Falcon’s fastball team and loved her spot on the bench with the girls where she would watch and cheer. Friendships were special to Mom, for years she enjoyed outings with the “Birthday Girls”. Mom loved music. Her favorites were Merle Haggard and Elvis who she never forgot to tell people they had the same birthday. Back in the day, her and Dad could dance a hole through the floor, they were a great dance team. Mom was a very generous person, she was always giving things away. If you said you liked it, it was yours, so you had to be careful what you complimented her on.
Mom loved life but missed life without Dad and now they are together again, dancing and just hanging out. Mom and Dad, we love you and will miss you always.
The family would like to thank the friends and staff at the Norberry House at the Rosewood Retirement Home for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Marguerite’s life with friends and family will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 2:00 pm at the Qualico Family Centre – Tamarack Room at AssiniboinePark in Winnipeg.
