April 29, 1947 — December 11, 2020
On Friday December 11, 2020, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of Ted Hodnett (Teddy Bear) of Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 73.
Ted was predeceased by his parents Jack and Eveline Hodnett; his brothers John and George and sister Tricia.
Left to cherish Ted’s memory are his loving wife Bonnie; sons, Trevor (Tiffany), Travis (Michelle) and daughter Eveline Playter; his five grandsons, Gavin, Carson, Devon, Brendyn and Cameron; sister Mary-Ann Cromwell and sister-in-law Gwen McMillan (Dave); as well as all his nieces and nephews and many great friends.
Ted owned his own business, Classic Sharpening, where he spent many years sharpening anything with an edge. Though sharpening pencils were preferred, nobody wanted to pay him for that. Along with the sharpening, he was brilliant at small engine repair. Ted was a great man who would always put everyone else’s needs before his own. He would literally give the shirt off his back. His passion was always helping others and he spent countless hours volunteering in the community wherever he could. However, more than anything in the world, he loved his grandchildren. He was there for them at any given time and he cherished every minute spent with them whether it was changing diapers, making lunches, doing crafts or playing a mean game of mini sticks in the basement.
Teddy Bear’s humor and laughter will truly be missed and lovingly remembered by all.
In keeping to his wishes, cremation has taken place and due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, a “celebration of life” will be scheduled at a later date.
