With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Annette Hendrickson (née Chartrand) on March 20th, 2022 at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was 92 years old.
Annette is predeceased by her husband, Norman Eugene Hendrickson, her eldest daughter, Sherry Lynn Lavallee, her son-in-law Leonard (Rex) Lavallee, her daughter-in-law Joy Hendrickson, and her great granddaughter, Jayme Lynn Annette Smith, among others. She is survived and mourned by her sons Lance (Kim), Kim, her daughters Helen (Willi), Karen (Maurice), her twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Annette was born July 7th, 1929 in Saint Ambrose, Manitoba as the third-youngest of fourteen siblings. Annette moved to Winnipeg at a young age, staying with her brothers and sisters and working various jobs throughout the city. In November of 1954, she married Norman Hendrickson, and from 1957 to 1960 resided in Germany as part of Norman’s military service. After leaving Germany, they moved all across Canada and didn’t return to Winnipeg until winter of 1965. For 25 years, she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, retiring after the passing of her husband in 1990.
Annette enjoyed baking, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her home was the heart of the family, and nobody could resist her pies, doughboys and date cakes. She also loved traveling and took many trips from coast to coast to coast with her sisters. She touched the lives of countless family members and will be forever remembered and missed.
Special thanks are extended to the personal care home staff of Lions Manor for taking care of Annette for the last two years. We would also like to thank the staff of Victoria Hospital for the care she received at the end of her life. You are all angels.
A funeral service will be held in the summer of 2022.
