Peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the Grace Hospital, with family at his side, Louis Edward Gnipp passed away at the age of 91.
Louis was born in 1927, in Sheho, Saskatchewan, moving to Winnipeg at the age of 25.
Louis raised his family in the Crescentwood area and was highly involved in coaching youth baseball and hockey for the Crescentwood Community Centre.
Louis was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth in 1994, after 36 years together. He was predeceased by his mother Pauline (1945), father Michael (1965), brother William (1981), sister Jean Wilson (1992) and brother in law Douglas Wilson (1991).
Louis is survived by his children; Louis Jr., Les and Sharon Hnatiuk (Jack). Louis also leaves behind two grandchildren, Ryan and Jason, whom he adored as he watched them grow and was honored to be able to attend their recent graduations from University and College. Louis is also survived by niece Pamela Thompson (Harvey) of Palm Springs and extended family in California.
The family would like to thank Dr. Borrett and the nurses and staff at the Grace Hospital (3North and 3South) for helping Dad during his final days so he could die with grace and dignity.
Dad has been cremated. A family memorial service has taken place. In the spring, interment will take place at the St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Cemetery in the New Haven District of Manitou, Manitoba, where Dad and Mom began their lives together; being married in this church in 1958. Dad will be laid to rest, next to her, for eternity.
We love you Dad and Grandpa. You will be in our hearts forever.
